Exelpet Fleaban Insecticide Recall

A popular flea treatment is being recalled after reports of cats becoming sick, and in some cases, even dying. Pet owners around the country are claiming that Exelpet Fleaban insecticide poisoned their cats.  Symptoms include tremors, frothing at the mouth, and in some cases, death.

The product contains pyrethrin, a derivative of chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium, aka the Dalmation Daisy.  It can be used on cats and dogs, but is known to be toxic to cats in large doses.

Exelpet says the product will be taken off the shelves in the coming weeks.
